TIPS FOR SUCCESS

Bright red, fire-engine reds are "fugitive" - especially on glass. They tend to print more brick-brownish. Make your images more magenta or orange rather than bright, fire-engine red.

Very saturated florescent hues are out of gamut so the translation will be less brillant.

about the color translation..... Currently we print with a MAGENTA set of toner. Natural colors and skin tones translate VERY well. See our portfolio for examples of how images translate.

please realize we are NOT a reproduction service. As artists, we use our expertise to translate your artwork with the technology available - however do realize that the color consistency from one printing to the next can vary. We are "printing' with inorganic pigments not ink. So embrace the permanency, the great detail and know there could be some shifting of color.

we do not print the color WHITE. Since our process is CMYK- there is no "white." White comes form the substraight that you are firing onto. i.e white glazed tile, opaque white glass.

difference between Flux and NonFlux covercoat.... after printing the page is COVERCOATED through a lamination process. The covercoat becomes the carrier of your image once the decal is water soaked. We offer 2 types of covercoat at no extra charge.

For CERAMICS typically we use FLUX covercoat. This provides a capping layer that makes the decal foodsafe, it also results in a slightly more glossy image.

The downfall with FLUX covercoat is that you can see the outline of the decal. You have to carefully trim up to the image. If you are making ceramic sculpture,(not be eaten off of) you would not have to use FLUX covercoat. For GLASS we usually use NONFlux covercoat. This way the decal edges burn out and nothing but the image remains.

Follow carefully the INSTRUCTIONS we send you with your Decal order. Since we print and fire every week we do know the best way to fuse your decals to either clay or glass.
