Alongside the Muskegon River, installed 150 yards apart, are eight permanent monuments. Each has custom designed imagery that addresses various aspects of what made Newaygo what it is today. Source material for the project was photographed after extensive research at the Historical Museum in Newaygo as well as local resident input.

IN PLAIN SIGHT combined custom imagery with natural stone tile.

LOCATION: Newaygo, Michigan

The momument below shows ghosted white pines surrounding an old photograph of the downtown. In the mid 1800's all the great white pines were cut down and forested.

Below are studio shots of three "tree" forms, prior to installation. The bark seen below is really an image of bark fused to a wheel thrown circular form. Thanks to our technology these "trees" will stand 300 to 500 years.

Custom made imagery on triangular cut tiles are on each of the backsides of the monuments.
