LOCATION: Western Michigan University, Chemistry Building, Kalamazoo, Michigan.

IN PLAIN SIGHT was commissioned to create a large scale
19 ft wide x 9.5 ft high

Periodic Table for Western University's new Chemistry Building.

The piece is inset into a 30 ft. curved wall of Maple panels.The background is 8" x10" white glazed tiles with custom image . Glass Donor tiles are adhered to purchased Elements.

In addition to portraying a Periodic Table surrounded by historical and modern day references,
the piece honors Donors whose generous contributions helped make the new facility a reality.

Donor Recognition:

Individuals purchased Elements. We designed 1.5" x 8" thick glass tiles with each of the Donors names fused into the glass. These are surface mounted in relief on the corresponding 8"x10" ceramic tile.
