This shows a detail shot of the large corner mural. Measuring 7 ft across by 4.5 ft high it is comprised of both image on clay tile (each 8" x10") and thick glass tiles (6" x 10" to 3" x 10"). The imagery is a composite of a few of the landmarks on campus. Much of the background imagery is close up photographs of the buildings at Michigan State University.

Intermixing clay and glass tiles created a tactile layer to the work.

First of all, the image on tile is embedded under three sheets of clear glass. So visually one sees a slight shift in the contiguous image as it is translated from clay to glass and back again.

The glass tiles are also thicker creating rectangular sections of the face of the mural to pop out in relief.
